Blocking who can see my facebook pictures?

Okay so I want to upload pictures to an album BUT I don't want it to be on everybody's newsfeed. First of all Facebook is unnecessarily confusing and I can't find a straightforward way to do this. So now I have to find a roundabout way of getting there. Will going on my privacy settings, clicking "only me" for the album I'm uploading the pictures to, uploading the pictures, and then putting it back to "everyone" let other people be able to see the album but not show up on the newsfeed? If not please explain in detail how I can do this. Thank you and sorry if I was confusing.
